I received a few responses to yesterday’s email.

One was from someone keen to sign up for The Bodyweight Method Spring Journey, who is also training for a half marathon (good for you Anne).

She wanted to know if she could swap some of the workouts for training runs. The answer is a solid yes! You don’t HAVE to do any of the workouts that come with The Bodyweight Method. You should, because they are specifically designed to strengthen your body all over and get your body burning loads of fat for energy (the current name for this style of training is Metabolic Training, it’s very ‘in’ at the moment, which is great as I’ve been utilising it for about 10 years, nice for the rest of the fitness world to catch up 🙂 ).
But I digress. Providing the workout of your choice is at least as effective as a Bodyweight Method workout, it’s absolutely fine to do it instead.

There are members of the Winter Journey who only do a couple of the programme workouts each week. The rest of the time they are running, doing exercise classes, personal training, a wide variety of alternatives.

I do give them advice on additional training they can do to boost the benefits of the training they are doing (you see, it really is fully supported).

As for the programme, if you join up you’ll need to do 5 workouts per week (can be a combination of your own training and programme workouts), you get 2 rest days. You choose which days you train, and they can vary from week to week. It really is very flexible and you don’t even need an internet connection because you can download a file to your phone/laptop that contains that month’s training plans…..though there will also be video versions of the workouts for the Spring Journey.
