Not many laughs in today’s email I’m afraid.

It would be remiss of me not to cover THE big news story in the press yesterday…that 70-90% of cancers are caused by LIFESTYLE and external influences.

What that means is that between 10% and 30% are caused by chance genetic mutations within the human body.

We all produce mutant cells, pretty much every day, but our body’s defence systems destroy them.

What is startling is that it’s possible that just 1 in 10 cancers are caused by bad luck…

So what about the other 90%???? Well, diet (food and drink), exercise (or lack of), BEING OVERWEIGHT, environment (air pollutants and working/living around, and with, cancer causing compounds)…oh and let’s not forget stress.

So, YOU can do something to lower your risk, in fact you can do a lot.

Kick processed foods out of your diet, take regular exercise (3 times per week is not regular, 5-7 is regular), limit you alcohol intake, try not to take drugs (even prescription drugs), limit you usage of any chemicals(bleach etc) in your daily life, move somewhere with better air (like North Devon, some of the cleanest air in Europe), and chill out.

At least if you do all those you’ll know that if the big C does come knocking, you did your best to keep it at bay….and improved your chances of kicking it’s butt!

You’re probably thinking, that’s all too hard…really? Harder than radiotherapy and chemotherapy?

So, do what you can…or don’t, it’s your life.
