Yet another rant about the World Health Organisation…read it, don’t read it, I don’t care, I’m going to have my say.
So…bacon! It’s going to kill you, right? I mean, if the World Health Organisation say it’s so, then it has to be….or not.
Bacon (and other cured, processed meats) have been raised to a Class 1 Carcinogen (same as tobacco, arsenic, plutonium). What that means is that there are elements in processed meats that are KNOWN to cause Cancer. It is NOT the meat that is cancer causing, it’s chemicals used in the curing process.
Now, six out of every one hundred people is expected to develop bowel cancer in their lifetime, if the same sample ate 50 grammes (2 ozs in old money…roughly 3 rashers of bacon) of processed meat EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES, that figure would be expected to rise to 7 out of every 100 people.
To put that into more perspective (3 rashers doesn’t sound like alot), that’s 350 grammes (over a third of a kilo) or 14ozs (just under a pound) of processed meat EVERY WEEK OF YOUR LIFE!
As for sugar…nothing…tumbleweed. The WHO have nothing to say about sugar, the ONE foodstuff that FEEDS cancerous growth. Not a single mention….I rest my case.
Bacon (and sausages, salami etc) ARE allowed in my nutrition programme. I don’t recommend you eat it every day, variety is the spice of life, but you can have it.
The FINAL 10×10 Challenge starts 2 weeks today. Sounds like a long time away, but you know what this time of year is like, one day you notice Christmas decorations in the shops, the next it’s 4pm on Christmas Eve and you’re charging around the shopping centre like a locked in bear desperately trying to remember what footie team your husband supports. (I know, women are more organised than that, but you get the general idea).
Now, with the AVERAGE person gaining 4-6lbs (2-3kgs) over the Christmas period, and the average weight loss on the 10×10 Challenge (http://www.10x10challenge.co.uk/contact.html) being 9lbs (4kg), if you do the last challenge of the year you could come out the back end of Christmas 3-5lbs LIGHTER than you are now!
What’s not to love about that?
There won’t be any discounts available for the final course this year. You either want it enough to invest in yourself, or you don’t.
